Group Offering: Substance Abuse Group for Woman | Group Therapy for Seniors 65+
I’ve been a helping professional for over twenty-five years. I started out as a caregiver for individuals who were chronically ill or at end of life; and as a doula, providing psychosocial and practical support to clients during childbirth. In the early 2000’s I went to theological school and was ordained in the Unitarian Universalist tradition. For fifteen years, I led a large, progressive, and theologically diverse congregation in Albuquerque.Over the years, I provided interfaith pastoral counseling to a wide range of people. In 2022, I decided to deepen and expand my skills by pursuing a master’s in counseling. I became a licensed therapist in 2025. It is deeply rewarding to weave this broad experience into the practice of psychotherapy!
When you’re looking for a therapist, it is natural to wonder about a clinician’s identity, whether because you hope to relate more easily with someone who has certain things in common with you, or because you are looking for a different perspective. I am a white, cis-gender, queer woman. I grew up in and struggled in the lower class before winning a scholarship to an Ivy League school as a young adult. English is my first language, but I am also fluent in Spanish and have a bilingual, bicultural family. I have a hidden disability, meaning most people do not perceive it, but it is part of my everyday life.
These identities have helped attune me to a range of human experiences, and structures both seen and unseen in our society. Yet I do not know everything. I practice humility and active learning in and beyond my role as therapist.
Education and Training
I am a native New Mexican and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UNM in 2000 and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from New Mexico Highlands University in 2012. I am independently licensed by the New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board.
I work with adults struggling with a broad range of issues, from depression and anxiety to self-esteem and life transitions, but specialize in PTSD/Trauma. I have training in EMDR, Trauma Resilience Model, Neuroscience of Attachment, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy.
I came to this career from my own healing journey so I understand this road can be painful and challenge the status quo in your life. If you are ready and willing to do the hard work, I am ready to walk with you on this path. Witnessing one’s healing journey and offering guidance along the way, is truly and honor and privilege for me, and I look forward to helping you discover your best self!
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, eating good food, traveling, and reading! I am a wife and a mother of four children! I value family, a spiritual life, personal growth, and most of all integrity! I have always had the innate instinct to ask the question,” What can I learn from this?” I believe this question instills resilience and allows for empowerment, even in the most disempowering situations. I am passionate about learning and expanding as a human, and I love this about life!
